Chef of famed La Folie in San Francisco to lead Lake Tahoe fundraiser
August 5, 2015
French-born Chef Roland Passot, chef and owner of San Francisco's famed La Folie, will be the chef for the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation's 2015 Community Table on Friday, Sept. 11, at the historic Shakespeare Ranch.
Chef Passot began his culinary career at the tender age of 15 in Lyon, the gastronomic capital of France, where he was traditionally trained by some of the most famous French chefs.
He rose from apprentice to Chef under Chef Marc Alix (Les Trois Dômes), Chef Jean-Paul Lacombe (Lyon de Lyon), and Pierre Orsi (Pierre Orsi Restaurant).
With the guidance of Chef Orsi, Chef Passot moved to the United States to re-open the famed Le Français in Whealing, IL with Chef Jean Banchet.
In 1981 he became opening chef at the French Room at Dallas' Adolphus Hotel where he began to receive national accolades.
He soon followed his heart to San Francisco and in 1988, he and his wife, Jamie opened La Folie where he continues to showcase his own personal style of cooking.
In April 2009 La Folie celebrated 21 years with the opening of La Folie Lounge, located next door to the restaurant.
In February 2014, Chef Passot had the honor of hosting French President Francois Hollande for lunch at a highly publicized meeting with the Silicon Valley CEOs.
Chef Passot and his staff will prepare an exclusive menu for Parasol's 2015 Community Table in the open kitchen at the Shakespeare Ranch in Glenbrook.
Proceeds from the Community Table dinner and auction will benefit Parasol's community programs.
This unique experience sells out quickly. To purchase tickets to attend the 2015 Community Table visit http://www.parasol.org/community or call Jean Eick at 775-298-0184.
Jean Eick is the Communications Manager for the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation.
