1. Brave the Shave

Join the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation in partnership with St. Baldrick's for the "Brave the Shave" fundraising event where children with cancer collect "pledges" or financial support to shave their heads.

2. North Lake Tahoe SnowFest! 2017

The 36th annual celebration brings 10 days and nights of events at area resorts including events, parades, races, parties, concerts and theater performances. This Saturday's big events are in Tahoe City (parade) and Gar Woods in Carnelian Bay (polar bear swim).

3. Arts for the Schools presents: The Second City

Enjoy an evening of comedy with The Second City comedy troupe that launched the careers of Bill Murray, Tina Fey, Steve Carell and hundreds more. You'll be laughing from start to finish; recommended ages 18+.

4. Ski for MS at Squaw Valley

This day-long fundraising event will bring skiers and riders together to help people with MS and their families thrive.

5. Dancing with the Tahoe Stars

The 5th annual event benefits Tahoe Arts Project and features 10 South Shore stars who will dance with 10 professional partners. Enjoy moves from west coast swing, Bollywood, samba, country, salsa, musical theater, hip-hop, jazz and the pasa doble.

6. Uphill/Downhill Dash

Earn your turns by skinning, snowshoeing or running to the top of the mountain at Diamond Peak, then ski or snowboard down. A less competitive, recreational course will also be available.

7. Girls Science Club Workshop

Encourage girls' interest in science with KidZone's Science Club observing and experimenting in various science and engineering projects.

8. The Show Ponies

Unwind with a cocktail to the smooth sounds of The Show Ponies, performing energetic, soulful music influenced by the folk genre — this is sure to be a swinging good time.

9. The Great Ski Race

This is the main fundraising event for the Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue Team, a nonprofit and all-volunteer organization. Join in on this year's 40th annual race, one of the largest cross-country ski races west of the Mississippi.

Cost: Adults $70; 18 and under $25 (cost increases day of race)

10. Art of Mixology

Use freshly cut herbs, classic ingredients and infused liquors as The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe teaches you to craft three cocktails paired with appetizers. 24-hour advance reservations required.
