Incline Village community notes: April 13, 2016

A couple of unpleasant items to report this week. Dogs are no longer allowed at Ski Beach after Friday, April 15. Please, dog owners, Leave No Trace. And this year, the dreaded tax day has been extended to Monday, April 18. Be sure to file before the midnight deadline so we do not have a traffic jam at the Post Office.

The April meeting of the American Association of University Women is at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the Donald W Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. Fred Lokken, professor of political science at Truckee Meadows Community College, will be speaking on women in public office. The public is welcome to attend but need to RSVP. All of our favorite “Stars” and lots of new faces are very busy working on the annual Incline Star Follies production. Hurry and get your tickets for Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23, at the Potlatch. This is held in the Incline High School Theater and is always spectacular.



The Incline Village Community Hospital Auxiliary’s Classy Garage Sale will be on Saturday, June 4. Now is the time to do your spring cleaning if you want to donate items for this event. Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the hospital parking lot. Individual spaces are available. If you want to rent a space, contact Karen at 775-833-3244 or Barbara at 775-832-6760. To arrange for a furniture pickup call Karen at 775-833-3244 or Jill at 775-831-2813.

Save the Date. The AAUW’s Tahoe Treasures Tour will be on Saturday, July 9 in Incline. Tickets will be available at The Potlatch on June 1.



Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation’s annual food and wine event, The Community Table is Friday, Sept. 9. The evening at the Shakespeare Ranch in Glenbrook features special guest Chef Pamela Mazzola of San Francisco’s Prospect Restaurant. Tickets will go on sale in June. Congratulations to Susan Herron. She finished the 5K Santa Anita Park Derby Day walk/run on Saturday.
