Village Notes

Well we eliminated a few more football teams, and now the Packer and Seahawk fans will be joining Viking fans as they wait for next year! Start planning your Super Bowl parties now and I will be happy to share ideas for the best party idea ever! Yes, I will keep the location secret.

Attend a fundraiser dinner at Jean Pierre’s Le Bistro Restaurant to benefit the Incline High School BuildOn Chapter, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan 28. Make reservations with an email to Tom Lahey at tlahe@lahey.com and include the names of those in their party. If you can’t attend and would like to support the Incline HS BuildOn Chapter, please mail your check to MES Foundation, PO Box 4049, Incline Village, NV, 89450.

Congratulations to the Hacienda de la Sierra. On Thursday, Jan. 30, the Hacienda is celebrating 30 years in Incline Village and will bringing out their original 1986 Dinner Menu and prices all night long. Of course they plan to have live music and dancing to the sounds of Jacked Up, starting right after Happy Hour!

If you do not have your tickets now for the annual Incline High School Booster Club Crab and Pasta Feed on Jan. 30, I suggest you do so today. This event always sells out early. Visit http://www.inclinecrabfeed.com to make reservations or for information.

Please support Incline Elementary School P.E. by participating in the Winter Wander beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6. Many local establishments will be offering specials or donating proceeds to the P.E. program. Wristbands will be for sale at the Potlatch and IES. Some of the participating businesses will be Azzara’s, Gus’, Rookies, Hacienda, Bite, The Local, and Alibi Lounge. I will update this next week if I get more information.

Bowling news at last! Millie Carter, Carol King, Susan Herron, Debbie Burgoyne and Stevie Walton will be bowling in the CCUSBC Seniors Tournament this weekend at Gold Dust West in Carson City. If you see any of them around town, wish them well! We will look forward to results as soon as they are available.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Sam Santiago after her nasty fall and surgery to repair her injuries. Hope you are out and about soon Sam.

We have a birthday to celebrate this week: Jan Schumacher on Jan. 27. Happy Birthday.

The Deal or Steal for this week is to attend one of the best winter events in Incline. The annual Ullr Fest torch light parade at Diamond Peak is Friday, Jan. 22. Other events run from Thursday, Jan. 21, to Sunday, Jan. 24. Visit http://www.dpsef.org for information.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, before 5 p.m. on Tuesday to jeanmeick@aol.com.
