INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center will release Lake Tahoe’s State of the Lake Report on Thursday, July 23.

That same day, the center’s director, Dr. Geoff Schladow, will present what he feels were most important factors that affected lake health last year at a public presentation at 6 p.m.

“The report includes changes in Lake Tahoe’s water quality and ecology over the past year, as well as the examination of the long term trends that have been taking place at Tahoe,” according to US Davis. “Dr. Schladow’s presentation will cover new clarity data, present developments occurring in the nearshore regions of the lake, and review how Lake Tahoe is being affected by the current drought.”

Schladow, who holds a doctoral degree in civil engineering, is defined by UC Davis as an expert in the areas of environmental fluid mechanics, water quality modeling, and the dynamics of inland waters. He is developing computer models to link stream flow, meteorological and remote sensing information that provide Tahoe decision-makers new management tools.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. July 23 at 291 Country Club Drive in Incline Village on the campus of Sierra Nevada College. Visit http://tahoe.ucdavis.edu/events to learn more.
