Another Lake Tahoe rescue boat sinks; second in 2 months
July 24, 2014
INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Another Washoe County Sheriff's Office rescue boat has sunk in Lake Tahoe, an official said.
Marine 10, one of the department's patrol and rescue vessels, sank sometime overnight or Thursday morning, said WCSO Public Information Officer Bob Harmon.
It was moored at a buoy near the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe pier, he said.
"It's normally kept on a trailer, but the trailer broke down recently and is in Reno… for repairs," Harmon said. "(Officials) decided to leave the boat on a buoy overnight, and apparently it went down."
No one was hurt in the incident.
The sheriff's office is investigating what happened, Harmon said, although "we don't have reason to suspect foul play."

Marine 10 had been used on Lake Tahoe intermittently since Memorial Day, when the department's Marine 9 rescue vessel also sank.
Marine 9 had been moored at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe when it began to take on water. It was hauled to Reno so the department could determine the amount and cost of damage.
When asked Thursday, Harmon said he didn't have updated information on Marine 9's future.
