Obituary: Gerald (Jerry) Alan Glichenhouse

Jerry Glichenhouse passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2015. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, February 15, 1941, the son of the late Sid and Ida Glichenhouse.

His family moved to New Haven, CT, when he was a teenager and was on the CT State Babe Ruth League Championship Team in 1966.

Jerry was a graduate of Syracuse University and was a sales and marketing executive in New York and Connecticut. He left the corporate world to start his own consulting company and silk screening business.

A true athlete, both in high school and at Syracuse University, he played basketball, baseball and was the hockey goalie. His passion, however, was skiing and this passion brought Jerry and his wife, Carol, to Truckee, CA. He taught skiing at Northstar and Tahoe Donner and spent his free time skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carol; sister and brother-in-law Diane and Donald Chepovsky of Boca Raton, FL; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, Paula and Bill Troxler of Salisbury, NC, Kathleen and Tim Maul of New York, NY; Nieces Lisa Pompile and Marlene Brumberger of Boca Raton, FL; Katie Troxler of Nashville, TN; Nephew Will Troxler of Charlotte, NC; Great Nephew, Nicholas Pompile and Great Niece Taylor Pompile of Boca Raton, FL.

The family especially wants to thank “Dr. Tim” Lombard for the compassionate care and friendship extended to Jerry over the years. Also, thank you to the Tahoe Forest Hospice Staff for the support and care given over the past several months to both Jerry and Carol.

A private memorial service will be held at the North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation in Tahoe Vista, CA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tahoe Forest Hospice, P.O. Box 759, Truckee, CA 96160.
