Ryan Summerlin April 11, 2013
Beloved Truckee resident Joseph Ron Lipnosky passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of April 8, 2013, at his home in Sierra Meadows.
Born in Oakland, Joey moved to Truckee at age five with his mother Chris and attended Truckee Elementary, Sierra Mountain Middle School and Truckee High School. He graduated from Truckee High in June of 2005 where he was an honor student and a treasured member of the varsity baseball and football teams.
Joey left Truckee in 2005 to attend the University of Colorado. After graduating in 2009 with a degree in Psychology, he spent time traveling in Central America and moved back to Truckee in 2010 with his partner Sarah Peters, whom he met in Panama. Joey and Sarah have a son, Copal, who will be two years old in August.
Joey returned to the community and friends he loved so much and formed a group called “Under the Above” with friends who shared his passion for music and art. He also worked at Northstar in the winter and had become a valued foreman with Green Envy Incorporated, a local landscaping company. Joey was an avid skier and true lover of the outdoors and adventure.
Joey’s death was sudden and tragic and he leaves behind a large group of grieving family members and close friends both near and far.
Everyone is invited to an informal celebration of his life on Saturday, April 13, at noon at the River Barbecue in Truckee Regional Park.
