Obituary: Lorenzo La Ferriere

Lorenzo "Mike" La Ferriere, son of Donat and Laura La Ferriere. Born July 12th, 1926 in Fort Kent, Maine, passed away peacefully May 28th, 2013 in Boise, Idaho. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Sharon, his four children: Trent, Bryant, Kerri, Tara, ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was proceed in death by his seven siblings. Mike and all fife of his brothers served together in the Navy, in World War II.
He had passion for life and touched the lives of many with his kind and generous spirit. He had a vigor for life- skydiving at 60 and buying a Harley at 65. He resided in Tahoe City, CA from 1958 to 1998. Best known as the proprietor of Congres, Pelicans Pier and Café Cobblestone. Mike was an extraordinary short order cook. Known for the speed I which he put your food out, his homemade pies, soups and Kahula Cake, just to name a few.
Remembered by many for his generosity, providing chocolate, coffee and donuts for the entire Tahoe City community for Santa's Arrival at "The Big Tree." Mike's love of Christmas will be remembered by many because of his tradition of making special visits on Christmas Eve to friends and family for over 50 years.
His passion in life were playing golf with his buddies, antique cars and "letting 'em run" down the slopes of Squaw Valley. He was a private pilot, a pool hustler and a great story teller. He had a strong will to live, and was a lover of life.
Funeral services were held previously in Boise Idaho. A Celebration of Life will be held at Tahoe City Golf course on Saturday, August 17th from 5-7 pm.
