Obituary: William (Bill) Dohrmann
April 18, 2013
September 20, 1940 – April 9, 2013
Bill, born in San Mateo, California, passed away unexpectedly on April 9th. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Barbara, son Matt and his wife Jonelle, daughter Robin, brother Pete, and two granddaughters. Bill touched the lives of many across the years and leaves behind many friends in Incline Village, where he and Barbara have lived since 1999.
Bill's natural creative talents took him around the world. As a vice president of real estate for Bank of America, he worked in San Francisco, New York City and Asia. He then moved to Gensler and Associates, a world renowned architectural firm, also designing and redesigning office space for major companies, in New York and Boston.
Bill's energy, creativity and ever-present smile served the Incline community in many ways. He was a greeter at Diamond Peak and volunteered to mentor high school students in art classes at Incline High. Bill and Barbara were very active in their neighborhood and famous for their Christmas Party.
Bill and Barbara designed a showcase garden of their own that was on the Lake of the Sky garden tour. They also designed and planted several gardens for prominent homes in Incline. Barbara hopes to continue on these projects.
With all his activities in the community, Bill's passion was the Thunderbird Lodge. He began volunteering at the lodge in 2000, became a member of the Board of Directors, and then contributed his career talents to the lodge as Project Manager for the beacon restoration. He was the Project Manager for the waterfall restoration at the time of his death. The waterfall project is under construction and should be completed in June. The Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society will celebrate Bill's memory with a dedication when the falls again flow.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the waterfall restoration in Bill's memory. Donations may be made to the Thunderbird Preservation Society Fund at Parasol (Parasol.org) or to Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society, PO Box 6812, Incline Village, NV 89450 (thunderbirdtahoe.org).
