Incline track | Highlanders tune up for regionals at Nevada Union Invite

The Incline track and field team wrapped up its regular season competing against more than 25 California schools at the Nevada Union Invitational in Grass Valley this past Friday.
Incline freshman Stephanie Homola led the way with a sixth-place finish in the 3,200-meter run, posting a time of 12:47.59. Homola also placed 15th in the 1,600 in a time of 5:55.97.
Sophomore Valeri Nix recorded a 10th-place finish in the 400 in a time of 64.01, a 16th-place finish in the 200 in a time of 28.28 and a 10th-place finish in the 100 hurdles in 17.56. She was 25th in the 100, in 13.82.
Freshman Hannah Laurie, who was celebrating her birthday, finished 16th in the 800 in a time of 2:41.83 and was 17th in the 1,600, in 6:01.74. Jessica Hillman was 16th in the 400, in 66.39, and 27th in the 800, in 2:58.83.
The girls 4×400 relay team also fared well, as Kandace Dirga, Hillman, Homola and Laurie raced to a ninth-place finish in 4:49.65. Tara Lincoln, Arantza Alcantara, Mia Harbaugh and Dirga finished 12th in the 4×100 relay, posting a time of 57.51.
In the field events, meanwhile, Lincoln placed 15th in the triple jump with a mark of 29-00.25, while Harbaugh was 18th, at 27-02.25. Harbaugh also was 18th in the long jump at 12-11.25.
For the Incline boys, Will Cory, Ryan Eppolito, Josh Lewis and Blake Perry teamed up to finish 11th in the 4×400 relay, posting a time of 3:50.90, while Cory finished 16th in the 400, in 55.08, and Perry was 16th in the high jump (5-04.00) and 27th in the long jump (14-07.00).
Eppolito was 22nd in the 1,600 (4:51.97), 24th in the 400 (56.25) and 31st in the 800 (2:15.76). Lewis was 28th in the 400 (57.59).
