North Tahoe volleyball | Lakers say goodbye on senior farewell

The North Tahoe volleyball team sent off its three seniors — Baylee Goodwin, Taylor Briggs and Kalia Norris — on senior farewell Friday night.
Unfortunately for the Lakers, their opponent on the festive evening was perennial power Yerington, which dominated the Northern Division III to the tune of a 13-0 record. The Lions remain the only team all season to defeat the top team in the Northern Division I-A, Dayton (32-1, 15-0).
The five-time state champion Lions took Friday’s match 25-11, 25-16, 25-6.
Goodwin posted three of the Lakers’ seven kills on the night, while senior Briggs had two kills, two blocks and five digs, and Norris had two digs and 18 serve returns.
Sherene Clegg contributed two blocks, setter Tilley Gibeaut added two blocks, eight digs and five assists, Jordan Briggs had five digs, and Jamie Dodge had three digs. Kassidy Lommori led the Lions with six kills and two blocks.
The night before, rival Incline handed the Lakers a loss in three sets, 25-18, 25-13, 25-17.
Taylor Briggs led North Tahoe with eight kills, two blocks and 11 digs, while Jordan Briggs had three kills, two service aces and four digs, and Goodwin had two kills and two aces. Gibeaut contributed 11 assists, two aces and seven digs, Dodge had four digs, and Rikki Partain had two assists.
The Lakers, who have won four volleyball state championships over the years, ended the season 3-11 in league and 6-16 overall.
