Tahoe City softball leagues accepting registration

Special to the Sun

The Tahoe City Recreation Department is gearing up for its adult softball leagues, which are available for all skills levels and abilities.

Wednesday and Thursday night coed is a competitive league with a bit of a recreational twist. Themed nights and crazy costume contest followed by post-game barbecues are just a taste of what to expect.

Monday night features a hard-throwing and home-run hitting showdown with the men taking the field to play for the night’s top honors.

Tuesday night is the traditional coed recreation league where a home run can easily be followed by a strikeout or pop out.

Friday night coed is as competitive as it gets, while each team is usually focused on making it down to the local watering hole for the first raffle drawing.

Many bars, restaurants and other retailers sponsor teams, including Pete N Peters, which could be considered softball central with its two-for-one drink tickets every night and ongoing raffles throughout the season.

Registration is open for all leagues. For more information contact the Tahoe City Parks and Recreation Department at 530-583-3440 or recreation@tcpud.org.
