Truckee girls soccer: Wolverines cap dream season with state title

The Truckee High School varsity girls soccer team won the Nevada 3A state title with a 3-0 victory over Western (Southern Nevada) High School Saturday in the championship game at Damonte Ranch High School.
Sophomore Amber Simonpietri tallied two goals for Truckee in the win, while sophomore Ava Seelenfreund added the third. Seniors Marley Simpson and Chase Rosellen had assists for the Wolverines. Senior goalkeeper Elena Orozco preserved the shutout with 4 saves to secure the state title.
Truckee advanced to Saturday’s state title game by way of a 2-1 victory Friday over Southeast Career Tech (Southern Nevada).
Seelenfreund had one goal in Friday’s win, while senior Zareli Villa added the second goal. Junior Olivia Vigano, meanwhile, tallied both assists to lead Truckee to the state title game.
Truckee finished the season with an amazing 22-1 record, its lone loss coming way back on Aug. 27 to Galena in a nonleague contest.
