Truckee’s Dr. Dan Smith to work Reebok CrossFit Games

Special to the Sun

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — The 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games has reached out to Dr. Daniel S. Smith of Truckee to provide expert professional care and treatment for athletes at its Northern California regionals.

With more than 25 years of chiropractic experience working with elite athletes — from professional football, baseball and basketball players to top-ranked golfers and tennis players as well as Olympic medalists — Dr. Smith is highly qualified to serve at the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games.

His clients include the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, MLB’s Oakland Athletics, the NFL Players Association, and the Gene Upshaw Memorial Golf Tournament.

Dr. Smith is the CEO of Genesa Inc., and the founder and president of the Genesa Living Foundation of Truckee. The foundation’s mission is to create educational resources and tools that support sustainable agriculture and best nutritional practices for optimal health and wellness for individuals, families, schools and communities. Genesa has produced the video documentary series “Love of the Land – Toolbox for the Informed Eater” to further this mission.

Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson and world-renowned chef Alice Waters are among the key players who appear in these documentaries.

Genesa Living Foundation also organizes conferences, seminars and symposiums geared toward promoting a healthy lifestyle. For the second straight year, Dr. Smith is spearheaded a “Healthy Living Forum” at the Truckee Home and Building Show. The forum’s keynote speakers included internationally recognized mental health expert Dr. Hyla Cass and California Assembly Member Brian Dahle, a third-generation farmer from the State’s first district. Dr. Smith addressed genetically modified foods and synthetic biology.

Dr. Smith is also an author and expert on the use micronutrient and amino acid supplements in achieving optimal health and wellness. His groundbreaking new book, :Recharge Your Body & Mind with Amazing Amino Acids,” will be released this month.

In addition, Genesa’s CleanSport line has just released a new formula called “Total Recovery,” which is designed to mitigate damaging factors that result from vigorous exercise. It is unique in the sports performance market because “Total Recovery” is the first product that provides a dosage schedule for the nutrient fueling needs of athletes based on their physical size.

Genesa hopes to establish a long-term international involvement with the Reebok CrossFit Games. This Northern California Regional competition is hopefully a stepping stone toward achieving that goal. The next step is to provide chiropractic care and treatment at the National CrossFit Championships, which will take place July 22-28 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
