Free block party part of Truckee’s Big Truck Day this Saturday
TRUCKEE, Calif. — In a collaborative effort to educate the community about services and programs, the Truckee Donner Public Utility District and town of Truckee are spearheading a free Community Block Party.
The event will showcase “key local agencies that provide a multitude of valuable services to area residents,” according to a news release.
It will take place in conjunction with Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District’s Big Truck Day on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the town of Truckee Corp Yard at 10811 Stockrest Springs Road.
Agencies slated to have a presence at the event, sharing information about local programs that benefit community members, include:

Truckee Donner Public Utility District: Representatives will share updates and hand out free gadgets such as energy and natural resource wheels which provide helpful tips to save energy, water and money.
Nevada County Health & Human Services: Services include behavioral health, public health, veteran’s services and social services for children and families. Learn about emergency preparedness and the Tahoe-Truckee Future Without Drug Dependence Coalition.
Truckee Sanitary District: Representatives will be on site to answer sewer-related questions.
Tahoe Forest Health System: Staff will be available to discuss the latest information about community health programs.
Truckee Tahoe Airport District: Meet staff, explore opportunities to get involved in aviation and experience the Sierra Nevada with the flight simulator.
Town of Truckee, Truckee Police: Pick up free blue recycling bags and learn about the town’s waste and recycling programs. Learn about upcoming projects such as Envision DPR, the Truckee River Legacy Trailhead and Brickelltown.
Truckee California Highway Patrol: Providing public information.
Truckee Fire: Representatives will be on site to answer questions on fall fire prevention.
Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District: Pick up a fall recreation brochure and learn about fall and winter sports offerings including Truckee Ski Team.
