KINGS BEACH, Calif. — The North Tahoe Business Association’s popular Music on the Beach free concert series returns to the Kings Beach State Recreation Area Friday, July 5, and runs every Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. through August 30.

Peter Joseph Burtt & The King Tide will kick off the series next Friday, performing their world blues and soul tunes. Burtt’s musical influence chronicles the years he spent living and studying with master musicians in Africa, with much of his music played on traditional instruments including the lute-like “kora,” and the “mbira,” or thumb piano.

“The Music on the Beach concert series has become a great way to kick off your summer weekend and enjoy great music, good company and a relaxing evening, with beautiful Lake Tahoe as the backdrop,” said Joy Doyle, executive director of the North Tahoe Business Association. “This summer’s lineup has a little something for everyone, and is a great Friday night activity for the whole family.”

On July 12, the series continues with local rockabilly band Sneaky Creatures. San Francisco-based rock ‘n soul, rhythm ‘n blues band, Tracorum, will take the stage July 19, and soul funk explosion, Mojo Green rounds out the month on July 26.

August heats up with Flannel Fish, an Americana, blues and metal band performing on August 2, followed by Mama’s Cookin’, featuring modern age hip-hop beats and dirty Delta blues on August 9.

The Northstar Session will share its pop country-jam on August 16; folk, bluegrass Americana trio, McCoy Tyler Band will take the stage August 23; and the series will conclude August 30 with blues band Terraplane.

New this year at Music on the Beach, food provided by The Souper Wagon and Cable Car Ice Cream will be available for purchase. NTBA will sell Sierra Nevada Brewing Company beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages as well.

Attendees are invited to bring their own low-back beach chairs and blankets.
