TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Lake of the Sky Garden Club will celebrate their 25th annual Garden Tour July 27 in Incline Village. There will be seven beautiful gardens to enjoy, including the Sierra College Demonstration Garden.

The club has been meeting since 1991 and was formed to promote an interest in high altitude gardening in the Sierra, to conserve natural resources and to participate in the beautification and development of community gardening projects.

Over the last 25 years the garden tour has raised more than $100,000, which has gone back into the community in grants for beautification and scholarships for local students. Anyone who has an interest in gardening is welcome to join the garden club, gardeners or not.

Lake of the Sky has great speakers who inspire and educate. The Club takes garden-related field trips. They learn from one another and master gardeners, who are a great resource to the Club and to the community.

The garden tour has become a popular event with folks attending from all over California and Nevada. Lake of the Sky Garden Club President Donna Caravelli commends the members who work tirelessly to make this tour a success. The Lake of the Sky Garden Tour depends on the support of the community, the nurseries who help promote the event, the homeowners who generously share their gardens, and all those who purchase tickets.

This year the garden tour is Saturday, July 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any of the local nurseries for $25. You may also call Margaret Radebold at 408-568-8553 or e-mail her at margaretradebold
