TAHOE CITY, Calif. — The 2016 SnowFest! winter carnival got into full swing this past weekend with a slew of events and activities despite predictions of inclement weather.

Highlights included Saturday’s Tahoe City Fire Department’s Pancake Breakfast, Tahoe City SnowFest! Parade along Highway 28 —featuring 2016 SnowFest! Queen Michelle Gomez and grand marshal Matthew “Laddie” Hodge — and the Gar Woods Polar Bear Swim in Lake Tahoe.

The festivities for the 35th annual event will continue the rest of the week and into the weekend before concluding March 13.

Some activities to look forward to include the Kings Beach SnowFest! Parade, Tahoe Donner Ididarun and the first Homewood Winter Wonder Film Festival.

Further, the SnowFest! Fireworks Spectacular at Squaw Valley, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 5, was postponed due to poor weather to Saturday the 12th at 7 p.m. at Squaw Valley.
