Tahoe City ‘Beach to Peaks’ to showcase snowsports

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — The Tahoe City Downtown Association (TCDA) will present the 3rd Annual "Beach to Peaks Winter Preview" Aug. 11, 3-7 p.m. in conjunction with the Mumbo Gumbo Concert on Commons Beach.
Concert goers will get a sneak peek at the upcoming snowsports season as a dozen of Tahoe's ski resorts pitch their tents at the world's only winter expo show held on a beach.
Joining the celebration with official guest of honor freestyle skiing pioneer and legend Wayne Wong. Wong was recognized in Skiing Magazine's 50th Anniversary Issue as one of the "25 Most Influential Skiers Of All Time" and was inducted in the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame last fall.
A free raffle for lift tickets will be held and the grand prize is a package which includes access to each participating resort, including Northstar, Kirkwood, Heavenly, Homewood Mountain Resort, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, Tahoe Donner Downhill, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, Diamond Peak, Tahoe XC and Royal Gorge XC.
The Aug. 11 Concert at Commons Beach features the music of Mumbo Gumbo. One of the area's most popular bands, Mumbo Gumbo blends genres from rock to soul, afropop, lush balladry, zydeco to country, in to a celebratory danceable party.
Headlining sponsors for the 2013 Concerts at Commons Beach include Michael Hohl Subaru, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Safeway, The Blue Agave, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Jake's on the Lake with Ike and Martin, Homewood Mountain Resort/West Shore Café & Inn, Pomin's Tahoe Hot Tubs, Tahoe Dave's Skis & Boards and Wolfdale's Cuisine Unique.
