TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Hundreds of children and accompanying parents turned out Saturday morning for a massive Easter egg hunt in Tahoe City — one of several that took place in the Tahoe-Truckee region this weekend.

Hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department of the Tahoe City Public Utility District, the Spring Eggstravaganza took place at Commons Beach, which was covered in thousands of plastic eggs.

Among the eggs were 24 hidden golden eggs. Those who found them received a special prize — an Easter basket filled with assorted chocolates and a stuffed bunny toy.

Meanwhile, the regular plastic eggs contained sweet treats inside. Starting at 10 a.m., the children were allowed to collect the waiting eggs, leading to a mad dash.

The Easter Bunny also made an appearance, greeting the crowd and sitting for photos with children.
