1. Mark Twain’s 180th Birthday Celebration

Local impressionist McAvoy Layne will perform “Secrets of Longevity & Etiquette on Getting Into Heaven” to celebrate Mark Twain’s 180th Birthday Celebration. For reservations, which are encouraged, as seating is limited to 50 people, call 775-833-1835 or email mcavoylayne@gmail.com

2. Gipsy Moon at Crystal Bay Casino

Gipsy Moon, a four-piece indie-folk band based in Colorado, will bring its soothing harmonies and acoustic-driven sound to the Crystal Bay Casino for a free show Friday.

3. Twiddle & The Werks at CBC Crown Room

The Vermont-based quartet Twiddle & The Werks — who blend jazz, bluegrass and funk, among others — will play a free show in Crystal Bay on Saturday night.

4. The Carolyn Sills Combo at Moody’s

The Carolyn Sills Combo, who’s nominated for a 2016 Ameripolitan Award for Western Swing Group of the Year, will stir up a feet-stomping time two nights in a row in downtown Truckee.

5. Troy Cavins at Cottonwood

Tahoe Cross Country will hold its annual ski swap for those interested in getting started, or getting some new gear for cross country skate-skiing, striding and snowshoeing.

7. Guitar Town at Bar of America

Truckee’s own Guitar Town, an acoustic/electric duo, will play a mix of rock, pop and traditional country music at Bar of America on Friday and Saturday.

8. “Death of a Salesman” at LTCC

Theatergoers can get an intimate look at the pitfalls of the American Dream in South Lake Tahoe starting this week. Arthur Miller’s 1949 American classic “Death of a Salesman” opens Friday, Nov. 13, at Lake Tahoe Community College.
