TAHOE-TRUCKEE, Calif. — Below are the Sierra Sun’s picks for the Top 10 events to check out this Fourth of July weekend at Truckee and Lake Tahoe.

1. Truckee Hometown Parade
An annual Fourth of July tradition, the Truckee Hometown Parade will meander through downtown Truckee with festive floats, fire trucks, Smokey Bear, bag pipers, the Truckee River Drill Team and more. This year’s theme is “Truckee — Base Camp for a Big Life,” in recognition of Truckee’s new brand.
When: 10 a.m. Monday, July 4

2. Truckee Firecracker Mile
Truckee’s annual Firecracker Mile will take place on Fourth of July morning just before the parade. The family fun event takes place on a slightly downhill course starting at US Bank on Donner Pass Road and finishing downtown. For serious runners, a wave of up to 100 runners starts at 9:40 a.m. The second wave of runners and walkers will start at 9:50 a.m.

3. Fourth of July Fireworks & Party at Donner Lake
Family activities will take place all day July 4 at Donner Lake’s West End Beach. The day will include games (such as a tug of war and a pie eating contest), live music (from bands like Blues Monsters and Jo Mama) and the big fireworks display, visible from all around the lake.
When: 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday, July 4

4. Kings Beach Fireworks & Beach Party (July 3)
Start celebrating Independence Day a day early in Kings Beach. The beach party will include a beer/wine and mixed drink garden, food vendors, a sand castle building contest, watermelon eating contests and more. Of course, the big fireworks show will cap the evening.
When: 4-10 p.m. Sunday, July 3

5. Tahoe City Funky Beach Bash & Fireworks
Celebrate the Fourth of July on the North Shore at Tahoe City’s all-day Funky Beach Bash, capped by its fun fireworks show. The beach bash will feature a beer and wine garden, food vendors, live music and more.
When: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday, July 4
Where: Commons Beach, Tahoe City

6. Red, White and Tahoe Blue fireworks & more
The 10th annual Red White and Tahoe Blue celebration will be held Friday-Monday in Incline Village. The four-day celebration will feature more than 40 events, including veterans recognition events, a free pancake breakfast, parade, live music, a beer and wine garden, rubber duck races and more — capped by Monday night’s massive fireworks display above Tahoe.

7. Summer Concert on the Green at Tahoe Donner
The Summer Concert on the Green at Tahoe Donner this weekend is bigger and better this year. Day 1 will feature an Eagles tribute band (Desperado) and an Elton John tribute band (Elton & The Early Years Band), while Day 2 will include bands covering Journey (Evolution) and U2 (Hollywood U2). Food vendors will also be available.
When: Saturday-Sunday, July 2-3

8. Summer Shred at Woodward Tahoe
Hit the slopes and the ramps at Boreal Mountain Resort and Woodward Tahoe for their Summer Shred public day on Saturday. Boreal’s Castle Peak chairlift will operate from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the indoor Woodward facilities will be open from noon to 6 p.m. There will be a DJ spinning tunes all day and a beer garden on the snow.
When: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, July 2

9. Slightly Stoopid at Harveys Lake Tahoe
Rock, reggae and hip-hop group Slightly Stoopid kicks off Harveys Lake Tahoe’s Summer Concert Series on Saturday. The San Diego-based reggae act released its most recent album, “Meanwhile…Back at the Lab,” in June 2015.
When: 6 p.m. Saturday, July 2

10. Nick Swardson at MontBleu Resort
Comedian, actor and writer Nick Swardson — perhaps best known as “that guy from the Adam Sandler movies” — will perform his high-energy, sidesplitting comedy Friday on the South Shore.
