TAHOE-TRUCKEE, Calif. — Below are the Sierra Sun’s picks for the Top 10 events to check out this weekend at Truckee and Lake Tahoe.

1. Lake of the Sky Garden Tour

The Lake of the Sky Garden Club’s 28th annual Garden Tour will take place Saturday from Kings Beach to Tahoe City. The event will feature eight gardens, as well as the three-acre native garden at the Historic Old Hatchery in Tahoe City. Additionally, local artists will be displaying art in the gardens for sale.

When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, July 30

Where: From Kings Beach to Tahoe City

Cost: $25 per ticket


2. Hank Biggs and the Hardtops at Bar of America

Hank Biggs and the Hardtops will bring its swinging rockabilly sound to downtown Truckee for back-to-back free shows at Bar of America this weekend.

When: 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 29

Where: Bar of America, Truckee

Cost: Free


3. Purple Haze at the Crystal Bay Casino

Jimi Hendrix tribute band Purple Haze will perform renditions of Hendrix’s classic hits on the North Shore for a free show at the Crystal Bay Casino.

When: 10 p.m. Friday, July 29

Where: Crystal Bay Casino Red Room

Cost: Free


4. Guitarfish Music Festival at Donner Summit

Starting Thursday, the sixth annual Guitarfish Music Festival will reel in the music-loving, environmentally conscious crowds for the four-day event at Cisco Grove Campground. In all, 30 bands will perform at the four-stage festival, headlined by ALO, the Greyboy Allstars, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, and Orgone.

When: Thursday-Sunday, July 28-31

5. Serina Dawn Duo at Cottonwood Restaurant

Soulful singer Serina Dawn and guitarist Ben “Jammin’” Martin will perform a free set Friday at Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar.

When: 6 p.m. Friday, July 29

Where: Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar, Truckee

Cost: Free


6. Homewood Fine Arts and Crafts Festival

Another Homewood Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will be held this weekend at Homewood Mountain Resort. The free event brings together more than 50 artists displaying their wares against the beautiful backdrop of the West Shore.

When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Sunday, July 29-31

7. Tahoe City Waterfront Walking Tour

This fun and informative tour is all about the waters of Lake Tahoe. Hear about the Truckee River, sailing and racing boats, and the dam, as well as things to do and where to eat during the one-mile tour.

When: 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, July 30

Where: Meet at Gatekeeper’s Museum, Tahoe City

Cost: Free


8. Keith Urban at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Keith Urban — playing in support of his latest album “Ripcord” — will bring his electrifying and emotional, fast-paced and inclusive tour to the South Shore this weekend.

When: 7 p.m. Friday, July 29

Where: Lake Tahoe Outdoor Area, Stateline

Cost: Tickets start at $63.24


9. Tahoe Games Bike Night

The second annual Tahoe Games Bike Night Series continues with this year’s third event on Friday. The races — classified by age and bike type — are approximately six miles, with two laps around a three-mile course for most classes. Event attendance for spectators is free and open to all ages.

When: 7 p.m. Friday, July 29

Where: Lake Tahoe Golf Course

Cost: $20 adults; $15 kids


10. 10th annual Artist Studio Tour

Bead weaving, watercolors, woodworking and more can be seen at the 10th annual Artist Studio Tour, which kicks off this Friday across South Lake Tahoe. The tour, which is self-guided, celebrates local artistry and includes work from over 40 artists in 21 studios on the South Shore.

When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday-Sunday, July 29-31
