1. Child Ski Center Theme Days at Diamond Peak
The Child Ski Center is getting silly with themed days for the holiday week, kicking off with Star Wars Day and Valentine’s Day this weekend. Kids ages 3-7 will have tons of fun learning how to ski and walk away with a huge smile at the end of the day.
When: Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 13-14
Where: Diamond Peak Ski Resort, Incline Village
2. Snowshoe Through History Hike
This easy and fun snowshoe tour along Lake Tahoe’s West Shore explores the lakefront and the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion estate. Learn about the natural environment that attracted Tahoe’s earliest settlers and explore the fascinating history of a Tahoe landmark.
When: 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13
Where: Sugar Pine Point State Park (lake side entrance off Highway 89)
Cost: $5 per vehicle for parking
3. Light Up the Night at SnoVentures Activity Zone
As part of Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows’ seventh annual Kid-O-Rama Extravaganza, SnoVentures Activity Zone is hosting night tubing for the whole family and mini-snowmobiling for kids and families to play in the snow under the stars. Kids ages 6-12 can strap on a helmet and ride a snowmobile that is just their size around the SnoVentures mini snowmobile course.
When: 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13
Where: SnoVentures Activity Zone at Squaw Valley
Cost: Snowmobiling: $34 ages 6-12 (15-minute ride); $34 riders over 40 inches tall (55-minute session)
4. Kid’s Deck Party & Cookie Happy Hour
Families can enjoy kid-friendly jams from Rob Leines and snack on delicious treats during Cookie Happy Hour on the sun deck at Alpine Meadows Lodge. The event is part of Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows’ seventh annual Kid-O-Rama Extravaganza.
When: 1-3 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 13-14

5. Con Brio w/ The Sextones at Crystal Bay Casino
Con Brio, a San Francisco-based dance-heavy funk band with R&B concepts, will bring its soulful sound to the North Shore and be accompanied by local soul/funk band The Sextones.
When: 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13
Where: Crystal Bay Casino Crown Room
Cost: $12 advance; $15 door
6. People’s Blues of Richmond at CBC
People’s Blues of Richmond — a band that brings a carnival-like mayhem to their dark, blues-influenced pyschedelia — will play a free show in the Crystal Bay Casino Red Room on Friday.
When: 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12

7. Grand Funk Railroad at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe
Longtime American blues rockers Grand Funk Railroad, a five-piece outfit known for their crowd-pleasing arena rock style, will bring their classic sound to the South Shore on Saturday.
When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13
Where: Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Stateline
Cost: $43.11 plus fees
8. Free Peoples at Moody’s
Bay Area-based folk band Free Peoples will bring its infusion of rock, jazz, soul, reggae and funk to downtown Truckee for a two-night stand at Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats.
When: 8:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 12-13

9. Mr. Crowley at Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe
Mr. Crowley — an Ozzy Osbourne tribute band that effortlessly and accurately play all of the songs in Ozzy’s entire catalog, including Black Sabbath — will unleash its sound at Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe on Saturday.
When: 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13

10. Darryl Lenox at Improv at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe
Stand-up comedian Darryl Lenox — who’s appeared on Conan and Comedy Central, among others — will perform all weekend at The Improv at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe.
