TAHOE-TRUCKEE, Calif. — Below are the Sierra Sun’s picks for the Top 10 events to check out this weekend at Truckee and Lake Tahoe.

1. Dead Winter Carpenters at Crystal Bay Casino

North Tahoe alt-country outfit Dead Winter Carpenters will play a two-night stand this weekend inside the Crystal Bay Casino Crown Room. DWC is playing in support of its third studio album, the critically acclaimed “Washoe,” which came out in February.

When: 9 p.m. Friday-Saturday, May 27-28

Where: Crystal Bay Casino

Cost: $17 advance; $20 day of show; booth seat $37


2. Truckee Memorial Day Ceremony

Truckee’s annual celebration honoring military veterans and those who’ve died includes formal speeches and music from the Mountain Belles. A meet-and-greet with veterans will follow at noon at the Veterans Hall on High Street.

When: 10 a.m. Monday, May 30

Where: Sierra Mountain Cemetery, Jibboom Street

3. Spring Skiing at Squaw Valley

Friends of 2015-16 or 2016-17 season passholders can purchase a lift ticket at Squaw Valley for just $19, limited to one per passholder. Not only that, Squaw Valley is welcoming passholders from any other resort that’s closed for the season to join the fun with the $19 lift ticket deal.

When: 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday-Monday, May 27-30

4. The Sam Ravenna Group at Moody’s

Sam Ravenna, a bassist/producer/songwriter based at North Lake Tahoe, will bring his eclectic sounds — from jazz-inspired reggae to hard-hitting power funk — to downtown Truckee for a free show on Friday.

When: 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 27

Where: Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats, Truckee

Cost: Free


5. The Mat Marruci Trio at Moody’s

Mat Marucci, a critically acclaimed jazz drummer, and his band will perform a free show at Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats on Saturday night.

When: 8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28

Where: Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats, Truckee

Cost: Free


6. Memorial Day Weekend at Squaw Creek

Celebrate Memorial Day weekend at Resort at Squaw Creek, which will have outdoor yoga, mountain biking, Painted Peaks (outdoor painting and cocktails), FootGolf, guided nature walks, dive-in movies at the pool and much more.

When: 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Monday, May 27-30

7. Opening Day at the Lake celebration

With deck opening parties at several restaurants, live music, scavenger hunts, BBQs, historic tours, and so much more, the West Shore is the place to be during your long weekend at Lake Tahoe for the annual Opening Day at the Lake celebration.

When: Friday-Monday, May 27-30

Where: Tahoe City/West Shore

8. Thompson Square at MontBleu Resort

Multi-platinum selling duo Thompson Square — comprised of Keifer and Shawna Thompson — will bring their modern country sound to the South Shore for a show at MontBleu Resort on Saturday.

When: 8 p.m. Saturday, May 28

Where: MontBleu Resort, Lake Tahoe

9. Zoso at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe

Considered by many the ultimate Led Zeppelin experience, Zoso will perform the most accurate and captivating Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing on Saturday at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.

10. Spring Into Summer Yoga Retreat
