TAHOE-TRUCKEE, Calif. — Below are the Sierra Sun’s picks for the Top 10 events to check out this weekend at Truckee and Lake Tahoe.

1. Trails & Vistas World Concert

Take a trip around the world Saturday with the Trails & Vistas World Concert, featuring the award-winning San Diego-based band Todo Mundo, which blends reggae, samba, Carribbean and Latin influences. Opening performances include the soulful blues of Peter Joseph Burtt, inspirational singer-songwriter Emily Tessmer, performance painting with Susie Alexander and other surprise guests.

When: 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10

Where: Sand Harbor, Incline Village

Cost: Single tickets: $24-$69; tables: $138-276 (seat 2 or 4)


2. Andre Thierry at Crystal Bay Casino

Grammy-nominated Creole artist Andre Thierry, a virtuoso on the accordion, will bring his rich and soulful sound to the North Shore for a free show Friday inside the Crystal Bay Casino Red Room.

When: 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9

3. Autumn Food & Wine Festival at Northstar

The 31st annual Autumn Food & Wine Festival — voted one of the top 10 food festivals in the country by USA Today — will take place this weekend at Northstar California. The event includes celebrity chef’s hands-on cooking demos, farm-to-table dinners, trailside hikes and tastings, food and wine seminars, mixology and more.

When: Friday-Sunday, Sept. 9-11

Where: Northstar California, Truckee

Cost: $25-$250


4. Guitar Strings vs. Chicken Wings at Squaw Valley

Flock to The Village at Squaw Valley on Friday to witness six restaurants go head-to-head in and event to benefit the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science. Each restaurant will be cooking their own signature spicy, flavor-packed chicken wings, and joining forces with some of the region’s best bands to crank the contest to the max.

When: 5-9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9

Where: The Village at Squaw Valley

Cost: $5 entry donation; tasting packages vary


5. Tahoe Rim Trail Pint Night

Grab your trail buddy and head over to Alpenglow Sports’ Tahoe Trim Trail Pint Night on Friday. The event, which helps raise funds for the Tahoe Rim Trail, includes beer provided by Laguintas Brewing, trail trivia with prizes and steel pint cups available for purchase.

When: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9

Where: Alpenglow Sports, Tahoe City

6. Tahoe Vista Paddlefest – Fall Classic

Sink into the inaugural Tahoe Vista Paddlefest – Fall Classic this weekend on the North Shore. The two-day festival is filled with live music, SUP demos, vendors, kids activities and more. The event also includes a 22-mile race culminating on the beach at Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort, which is hosting the festival.

When: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 10-11

7. Dave Manning at Cottonwood

Dave Manning — a piano-playing singer-songwriter whose voice brings to mind Tom Waits — will bring his mix of blues, soul, country and boogie-woogie to Truckee for a free set Saturday.

When: 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10

Where: Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar, Truckee

Cost: Free


8. Tedeschi Trucks Band at MontBleu Resort

Florida-based Tedeschi Trucks Band brings their brand of southern twang to South Shore on Saturday with a performance at MontBleu Resort.

When: 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10

Where: MontBleu Resort, Stateline

Cost: $65


9. Hops in the Yard Beerfest at MontBleu Resort

Venture to the South Shore on Saturday afternoon for the Hops in the Yard Beerfest at MontBleu Resort. The event will include over 45 different brews, food trucks, and live music featuring Patrick Walsh and the Mark Mackay Band. Must be 21 years of age or older to attend.

When: 1-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10

Where: MontBleu Resort, Stateline

Cost: Free to attend


10. Dat Phan at the Improv at Harvey’s

Comedian Dat Phan, who won the first season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and has appeared in numerous Hollywood films, will perform stand-up all weekend on the South Shore.

When: 9 p.m. Friday, Sunday; 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: The Improv at Harvey’s, Lake Tahoe

Cost: $25 Friday, Sunday; $30 Saturday
