1. Dead Winter Carpenters CD Release Party

North Shore alternative-country band Dead Winter Carpenters will perform a CD Release show for their third-length studio album “Washoe” on Saturday at the Crystal Bay Casino.

When: 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27

Where: Crystal Bay Casino Crown Room

Cost: $15 advance; $18 door; $35 booth seat


2. Kip Yager at Cottonwood

Hailing from the West Shore, Kip Yager, an acoustic guitarist who plays cover songs spanning decades, will perform a free show Friday in Truckee.

When: 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26

Where: Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar, Truckee

Cost: Free


3. Marty O’Reilly & The Old Soul Orchestra

Santa Cruz-based Marty O’Reilly & The Old Soul Orchestra will bring its infusion of blues and folk to downtown Truckee for a two-night stand at Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats.

When: 8:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 26-27

Where: Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats, Truckee

Cost: Free


4. Drinking With Clowns

Drinking With Clowns, who unleash a unique blend of Latin sound and funky rhythms, will perform back-to-back nights at Bar of America in downtown Truckee.

When: 8:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 26-27

Where: Bar of America, Truckee

Cost: Free


5. Alpenglow Mountain Festival at North Lake Tahoe

The third annual Alpenglow Mountain Festival — a nine-day celebration of human-powered mountain sports, filled with clinics, equipment demos, films and more — will wrap this weekend across North Lake Tahoe.

When: Friday-Sunday, Feb. 26-28

Where: North Lake Tahoe

Cost: Most events are free; $10 to attend films


6. Galactic ‘Into the Deep Tour’ at CBC

Galactic, a New Orleans-based funk and jazz jam band, will make a stop on the North Shore on Sunday in support of their latest album “Into the Deep.”

When: 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28

Where: Crystal bay Casino Crown Room

Cost: $30; $50 booth seat


7. Smashing Pumpkins tribute at Hard Rock

The Great Pumpkin, a Smashing Pumpkins tribute band, will replicate the Smashing Pumpkins’ icon alternative rock songs with flair and intensity Saturday on the South Shore.

When: 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27

Where: Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe, Stateline

Cost: $15


8. ‘The Vagina Monologues’ at South Tahoe

The award-winning play is based on Eve Ensler’s interviews with more than 200 women and celebrates women’s sexuality and strength with humor and grace.

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27

Where: Tahoe Beach Retreat Conference Center, South Lake Tahoe

Cost: Start at $20


9. Michael Palascak at the Improv at Harveys

Second City alum Michael Palascak, a stand-up and sketch comedian who’s many TV appearances include The Tonight Show and Conan, will perform this weekend on the South Shore.

When: 9 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Feb. 26-28

Where: The Improv at Harveys Lake Tahoe, Stateline

Cost: $25 Friday, Sunday; $30 Saturday


10. 22nd annual Ability Bash

This Ability Bash will celebrate the accomplishments of Achieve Tahoe, their participants, volunteers and honored guests. Andy Wirth will be Master of Ceremonies for an evening of gourmet food, dancing and more.

When: 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27

Where: Alpine Meadows Lodge

Cost: $100 for individuals; $1,000 for table of 10
