1. Truckee Carnival
Rides, games, food and more will be part of the fun-filled family carnival that continues this weekend at the Truckee River Regional Park in the Truckee Rodeo parking lot, serving as a fundraiser for Tahoe’s Connection for Families.

2. Classical Tahoe finalé
Classical Tahoe — an 11-concert series designed to support Tahoe’s cultural growth while bringing together an all-star assembly of musicians from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra — wraps its fifth season this weekend with performances featuring guest conductor JoAnn Falletta and soprano extraordinaire Lisette Oropesa (Friday only).

3. Homewood Fine Arts and Crafts Festival
The Pacific Fine Arts Festival will take place on the West Shore this weekend. The free event brings together more than 40 artists displaying their wares against the beautiful backdrop of Homewood Mountain.
When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Aug. 12-14

4. Junk Parlor at Moody’s
Junk Parlor, a galvanizing force on the Bay Area indie rock scene, will bring its musical collage of rock and roll, punk, gypsy rhythms and more to downtown Truckee for back-to-back free shows this weekend.

5. Drop Theory at Bar of America
Truckee-based funk band Drop Theory will bring its high-energy funk-centric sound to downtown Truckee for a two-night stand at Bar of America.

6. 15th annual Brews, Jazz and Funk Fest
Enjoy an incredible lineup of brews and tunes this weekend at the 15th annual Brews, Jazz and Funk Fest at the Village at Squaw Valley. The music lineup includes headliners Marc Broussard, a southern rock-soul singer, and the Main Squeeze, a funk/soul outfit based in Chicago. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.

7. Ta-Hoe Nalu Stand Up Paddle Festival
Voted the Best SUP event in the country by Outdoor magazine, the Ta-Hoe NALU Stand Up Paddle Festival will take place in Kings Beach. The three-day event includes a variety of races for all ages, live music, food and drinks and more.

8. Lionel Richie concert
Four-time Grammy winner Lionel Richie will bring his lifetime of hits — including “Hello,” “Stuck on You” and “All Night Long” — to the South Shore for a performance Saturday at Harveys Outdoor Arena.

9. The Great Gatsby Festival
The 32nd annual Great Gatsby Festival comes to the Tallac Historic Site this weekend on the South Shore. The event includes guided tours, vintage automobiles, historical talks, games and activities, food and drinks and more.

10. Aprés Ski Party (Extreme Summer Edition)
After a sweltering day water skiing on Lake Tahoe, or perhaps rock skiing on the melted-out slopes of Squaw Valley, head to Moe’s Original BBQ for a summer dance party featuring music from Motion Potion, All Good Funk Alliance and Lambchop.
