Register for Incline Village Relay for Life on Oct. 3

Special to the Bonanza

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Incline Village gives everyone in the community a chance to help the organization save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

Former and current cancer patients; those who have lost a loved one to cancer; families, businesses, faith-based and civic organizations; and others wanting to make a difference in the fight against cancer are invited to take part in this exciting team event.

This year’s Relay for Life takes place from 9 a.m. to midnight, Saturday, Oct. 3 at Preston Field, starting with a Pancake Breakfast from 9-11 a.m. and ending with a dinner provided by Sunshine Deli, a luminaria ceremony and dancing at dusk.

Brendan O’Donovan, chairman of this year’s event, has lined up a variety of entertainment, including 6Pac, Jacked Up, Brad Perry, and clowns Doc-O and Squeaky for the kids.

The cost for breakfast and the dinner are $10 each and free to survivors.

Teams and individuals are invited to walk the field all day to raise money for the event. Most teams do their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams and organizations also hold creative fundraisers at their booths during the event.

“Relay for Life draws attention to the progress being made by the American Cancer Society and the work yet to be done,” said Lucy Roman, Incline Village volunteer Relay for Life Publicity Chair. “Many participants are our family, friends and neighbors who have faced cancer themselves.”

Register your team today by visiting relayforlife.org/inclinevillagenv or by calling Melissa Williams at 775-828-2210.

If you’re interested in having a booth at the event this year, call O’Donovan at 323-490-3281.
