Motorcycle poker run to benefit longtime Truckee musician
May 17, 2016
TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Crew Motorcycle Club of Truckee is revving up for their 16th annual Truckee Poker Run on Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Every year the group raises money for a Truckee local who is in need of help. This year, Crew MC is supporting Paul Covarelli, a Truckee musician who has given so much of his time over the years, providing musical talent to numerous charities and local events.
Now it's Truckee's turn to support Paul. He has suffered numerous health issues since early 2015; the latest being diagnosed with high grade cancer and having to start chemotherapy in February 2016.
Covarelli has resided in the Truckee/Tahoe/Reno area for over 30 years and has since established himself as a driving force in the area's musical community. He plays with many groups, playing many styles, and he started the popular band Jo Mama 25 years ago.
In addition, he is a music teacher and has made quite a name for himself as a "Sucker for a Cause," donating hundreds of hours to our community. Paul is lucky to have a wonderful wife, Erica Covarelli, help him through his medical crisis, but she can't do it alone.
The Poker Run will begin in Truckee, riding through Squaw Valley and North Lake Tahoe before ending at El Toro Bravo in Truckee.
