INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Ol' Blue Eyes will meet Big Blue at a North Lake Tahoe performance this weekend by the Reno Jazz Orchestra.

The orchestra, featuring singer-songwriter Bobby Caldwell, will perform "Perfectly Frank" at Sand Harbor State Park on Saturday night. The performance will include plenty of Frank Sinatra classics.

"Take a trip down memory lane with the Reno Jazz Orchestra and enjoy Sinatra's most famous tunes performed by some of the finest jazz musicians in the West," according to a description from show organizers. "Presented in true Sinatra style by acclaimed soul, pop and rhythm and blues stylist and singer-songwriter, Bobby Caldwell, this swinging night of big band music and songs under the stars is sure to delight.

If Frank Sinatra were alive today to celebrate his 100th birthday this year, he would be proud to play Sand Harbor."

The 17-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra inherits the spirit and excitement of the big band sound that has filled the showrooms and headliner stages of Reno and Lake Tahoe for generations, according to the group's website.

"The music is alive, and it brings to life that big sweet sound which powers the tap and the jive, and the spell of jazz," according to the site. "Seventeen instruments, seventeen living expressions. Such smooth stimulation — all singing the sounds that make you want to spin and swing."

The show ought to be a fitting tribute to Sinatra, considering his ties to the Tahoe region. He owned the famed Cal Neva Resort, Spa & Casino from 1960-63, during an era when the North Shore resort was frequented by the likes of the Rat Pack, Marilyn Monroe and members of the Kennedy family, among others.

Saturday's show is part of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival's Monday Night Showcase, albeit set to take place on Saturday, due to Monday's Labor Day holiday.
