Right near the beach: North Tahoe music series begins Friday
June 18, 2015
KINGS BEACH, Calif. — Music on the Beach, the seven-week concert series at Kings Beach State Recreation Area, kicks off for the 2015 summer on Friday, June 19.
The free concerts take place from 6-8:30 p.m. and will continue every Friday until Aug. 7, excluding July 3.
A variety of music genres with mostly local and some regional performers will be featured, including the first three concerts with North Tahoe's own Drop Theory on June 19; funk-soul band Groove Foundry on July 26; and honky tonk/rock and roll band Miss Lonely Hearts on July 10.
"Music on the Beach is a great way to get your summer weekend started and has a laid-back feel in one of the most beautiful, natural settings with spectacular sunsets unlike any other Tahoe/Truckee music venue," said Joy Doyle, executive director of the North Tahoe Business Association, which produces the series, in a statement. "If you haven't experienced Music on the Beach, add it to your summer bucket list."
Drop Theory has been rocking the proverbial socks off their fans at festivals, parties, weddings, bars, and everything in between since 2008, according to the band's website.
Playing a dynamic mix of carefully selected covers and originals, every song in the band's repertoire features high-energy solos and airtight arrangements, all meant to induce the irrepressible urge to dance.
