Rock group Achilles Wheel headlines North Lake Tahoe’s Music on the Beach on Friday, July 28
IF YOU GO …
What: Achilles Wheel
When: Friday, July 28, 6 p.m.
Where: Kings Beach State Recreation Area
North Shore’s Music on the Beach series continues this Friday, July 28, with a performance from California-based rock group Achilles Wheel, a band that blends roots and world music into self-described “rockadelia.”
“Their sound comes across as both old school and new school and is riddled with great songwriting. The one thing that rises to the surface as you get to know this band is that supporting the benefit of our human condition is foremost in their work.
“They play hard as a way to break down walls and celebrate life. The idealism that they embraced as younger men has not diminished in the harsh light of the modern world as we struggle to live freely and have a good time, and in the end, hopefully matter. Achilles Wheel fearlessly sings out to these times,” states the band’s biography.
The six-member group — comprised of keyboardist Ben Jacobs, guitarists Jonny Mojo Flores and Paul Kamm, bassist Shelby Snow, drummer Mark McCartney and percussionist Gary Campus — released its third studio recording, “Devil In The Yard,” in March 2016.
The album, which features the songs “Let It Ride” and “Suddenly,” comes on the heels of success that Achilles Wheel found with the 2014 record “Stones To Sand.”
Catch the band at Kings Beach State Recreation Area on Friday, July 28, at 6 p.m. The gig is free to attend.
