1. Chum at Crystal Bay Casino

Chum, a Phish tribute band hailing from San Francisco, will unreel the Phish catalog — with favorites like “You Enjoy Myself” “Lushington” and “Reba” — on Friday on the North Shore.

2. Sophistafunk at CBC

Syracuse-based band Sophistafunk — who create a unique live band experience by fusing spoken-word artistry, old-school hip hop, and funky rhythms — will play a free show Saturday at the Crystal Bay Casino.

3. Lisa Marie Johnston at Cottonwood

Singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Johnston, a folk artist from the Bay Area, will bring a new batch of songs to Truckee for a free show at Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar.

4. Haunted Summer at Moody’s

Highland Park-based Haunted Summer will bring its eclectic mix of languid pop music, orchestral strings and electronic textures to downtown Truckee for back-to-back free shows this weekend.

When: 8:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Jan. 22-23

5. Groove Foundry at Bar of America

Nine-piece jazz/funk outfit Groove Foundry — which features a trio of powerhouse horns, a funky rhythm section and gritty vocals — will perform two free shows at Bar of America this weekend.

6. Paul Covarelli at River Ranch

Truckee guitarist Paul Covarelli, who plays everything from classic rock to southern rock, will perform a free show Friday in Tahoe City.

7. Tahoe Donner inaugural Winter Festival

Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area will host its first ever Winter Festival on Saturday. The Tahoe Donner team will introduce participants to the world of Nordic sports and snowshoeing, complete with demonstrations, free equipment demos, discount skiing and live entertainment.

8. Full Moon Snowshoe Tour at Sugar Pine Point State Park

Sugar Pine Point State Park rangers will lead a Full Moon Snowshoe Tour exploring the natural and cultural history around the Hellman-Ehrman estate and Lake Tahoe shoreline. The hike starts promptly at 7 p.m. and begins near the restrooms in the Day Use side of the park.

Where: Sugar Pine Point State Park (lake side entrance off Highway 89)

When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23. (Beginner’s clinic at 6:30 p.m. for those new to snowshoeing.)

9. Climbing documentary at South Lake Tahoe

“Meru,” a film documenting attempts by three men to rock- and ice-climb the Shark Fin on India’s Mount Meru, will be shown at South Lake Tahoe’s Unity at the Lake on Friday.

10. ‘World peace meditation’ at For Goodness Sake
