Staff report

NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. — A popular guide to Nevada County's and Truckee's historical landmarks, "Exploring Nevada County," has been updated and is now available in electronic format.

Originally compiled by prominent local historian David Comstock, it has been updated by Bernard Zimmerman, the current chair of the Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission, and published as an e-guide by You Bet Press.

The new edition will guide residents and visitors to 200 landmarks scattered throughout Nevada County, offering 14 maps and 200 photographs to tour these sites on a desktop monitor, or to be loaded onto a mobile device to be viewed while visiting landmarks.

Each landmark has a link to a Google map, also featuring detailed maps of downtown Grass Valley, Nevada City and Truckee. Numerous hypertext links to Wikipedia, newspaper articles and other sources provide more information on the historical significance of the site.

The e-guide is an electronic book available for any smartphone or tablet from Apple, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble. Go to You Bet Press (www.youbetpress.com) to find clickable links.
