Plans underway for SWEP’s 2016 Tahoe Film Fest

Special to the Sun

The annual Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships Tahoe Film Fest is scheduled to take place December 1-4. Each day, film screenings will be held at the Incline Village and Northstar Village cinemas.

The festival will consist of a premiere section of new environmental films, as well as important American independent films, Latin American films (featuring Mexico) and a special Filmmaker Tribute.

SWEP has partnered with a professional film programmer and publicist who has worked in the film industry for over 35 years and has been involved with many successful film festivals.

Tahoe Film Fest is presented by SWEP, North Lake Tahoe CVB, Reno CVB, Northstar Village, Coldwell Banker, Welk Resorts, Hyatt Regency and Tahoe Mountain Lodging — with an additional 30-plus sponsors at various other levels.

The nonprofit SWEP promotes environmental stewardship by connecting students to their community and local environment through comprehensive watershed education and service learning.

SWEP fulfills its mission through collaboration with local teachers, school districts, community partners and individuals to teach about pertinent environmental issues.
