TAHOE-TRUCKEE, Calif. — Below are the Sierra Sun’s picks for the Top 10 events to check out this weekend at Truckee and Lake Tahoe.

1. Boulder Bash at Donner Summit
Presented by Tahoe Sports Hub, the third annual Boulder Dash is an all-levels, all-ages bouldering competition and climbing festival benefitting the local chapter of the American Alpine Club, and celebrating Truckee as a world-class climbing destination. Saturday’s festivities include a free after party featuring live music, a live raffle, and food and drink specials.
When: 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

Cost: Adults – $40 day of event, $35 pre-registration. Youth – $30 day of event, $25 pre-registration

2. Sunset Kayak Tour
Looking for a great way to end your Friday? Paddle across Lake Tahoe and stargaze during a Sunset Friday Kayak Tour. The tour will cover some astronomy and cover the perfect distance before landing on the beach for some hot drinks, snacks, and more stargazing.
When: 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23
Where: Tahoe Vista Recreation Area
Cost: $65 per person (four person minimum)

3. Oktoberfest at Squaw Valley
North Lake Tahoe’s largest Oktoberfest celebration is returning to The Village at Squaw Valley on Saturday. This free festival is complete with authentic German beer and food, Bavarian music, the ever-popular Oktoberfest Games and plenty of family fun.
When: 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24

4. Swimrise at Skylandia Beach
Want to start your day with a splash? Head to Skylandia for a morning open water swim. Whether you want to swim one mile or two, get some more training in for that upcoming triathlon or simply splash around. Afterwards, participants gather at Sugar Pine Bakery for hot coffee and treats.
When: 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24

5. Guitar Army at Crystal Bay Casino
Guitar Army — composed of three world-class musicians Robben Ford, Lee Roy Parnell and Joe Robinson — will perform on the North Shore on Friday night. The triple-threat artists each perform individual 20-minute sets before joining forces for a 40-minute set to close out the show in supergroup fashion.

6. Members of Dead Winter Carpenters at Moody’s
Members of Dead Winter Carpenters, a high-energy alternative country band hailing from the North Shore, will perform back-to-back free shows in downtown Truckee this weekend.

7. Soul Persuaders at Bar of America
Reno-based Soul Persuaders will perform a mix of R&B, Motown, soul, funk and blues — from the 60s through the present — for two nights at Bar of American in downtown Truckee.
When: 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23-24

8. Eric Burdon & The Animals at Harrah’s
British blues rocker Eric Burdon visits Stateline on Saturday, headlining Harrah’s Lake Tahoe with The Animals. Burdon, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, is known for hits such as “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” and “We Gotta Get Out of This Place.”

9. Tammy Pescatelli at Harvey’s
Stand-up comedian Tammy Pescatelli, whose most recent one-hour special, “Finding the Funny,” was released on Netflix, will bring her witty sarcasm to the South Shore this weekend.
When: 9 p.m. Friday and Sunday; 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday

10. South Shore Firefest at Hard Rock
South Shore’s annual Firefest is back on Saturday. Come out to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for a day focused on life and fire safety for children and families. The event includes meeting firefighters and learning firefighting skills, games and prizes, and a barbecue.
