1,000-acre wildfire moving towards Reno

RENO, Nev. (AP) ” Fire officials say about 150 firefighters are battling a fast-moving 1,000-acre wildfire that’s heading toward U.S. 395 north of Reno.

A dispatcher for the Sierra Front Fire Interagency Dispatch Center in Minden says no structures are immediately threatened, but engines have been placed around some homes, a business and a ranch as a precaution.

The dispatcher says she is unsure how far the fire is from the highway, but traffic has not been affected.

Officials say there is no containment of the fire, and several air tankers are attacking the blaze, which broke out early Sunday afternoon around Crystal Canyon near Cold Springs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
