2 acre fire blazes near Palisades Creek

Update 9:30 a.m.: The fire held at two acres overnight, with some active fire within the lines. There is a planned extraction of rappelers as additional crews are flying in. About 30 fire crews are currently ordered to be on the incident throughout today. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

SODA SPRINGS, Calif. – Crews on the Forest Service Tahoe National Forest Truckee Ranger District responded to a fire on the afternoon of Wednesday August 2. The two-acre fire is located near Palisade Creek and the North Fork of the American River.

“Tahoe National Forest Helicopter 514 immediately responded to the fire and rappel crews were dropped to the fire due to it’s remote location. Tankers were also able to do a few retardant drops,” Lauren Faulkenberry, Public Affairs Officer, Tahoe National Forest told the Sun.



Crews monitored the fire through the night.

The location of the fire is near Palisade Creek and the North Fork of the American River.
