2 arrested for mail theft, check fraud

After a month-long investigation, Truckee Police Department detectives arrested two Sacramento men allegedly responsible for the U.S. Postal Service mailbox thefts at the Donner Pines Market and Donner Memorial State Park.

Following leads related to fraudulent ATM and check transactions, detectives on June 30 arrested 23-year-old Vasiliy Pislar and 25-year-old Natalya Gulenko. Both suspects were arrested in Sacramento while under surveillance near their residence. Following the arrest Truckee detectives recovered stolen property, burglar tools and items used in identity theft crimes. Both suspects were transported to the Nevada County Jail in Truckee where they were booked on numerous offenses.
