$50K in tools stolen from Gray’s Crossing

Truckee police are estimating that $50,000 in power tools were stolen from the Gray’s Crossing construction site over the weekend.

Workers at the large development site on Prosser Dam Road off Highway 89 north, reported the theft of power tools, hand tools and other construction tools from large metal storage containers.

Jared Northon, construction manager for Gray’s Crossing, said that the containers were locked and that torches had been used by thieves to cut their way inside.

Police are encouraging contractors to engrave their driver’s license number on tools and other items of value and to keep lists of property with model and serial numbers.

Anyone with information about these thefts should call Detective Bill Mardison at 550-2323.
