8-year-old boy rescued from Truckee River
RENO (AP) and#8212; Reno firefighters pulled an 8-year-old boy to safety after he became stranded on a rock in the Truckee River.
Authorities say the boy, his 12-year-old sister and their grandfather were riding in an inflatable kayak when it was swamped and pushed against a rock.
The grandfather was able to get both children on the rock, then managed to bring the girl to shore. But the fast, cold water prevented him from returning to the rock to get the boy.
Members of the Reno Fire Department’s water entry team rescued the boy just after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
