8th annual Incline Village Oktoberfest is Saturday
Get into the spirit of fall by visiting the Village Center in Incline Village for the eighth annual Oktoberfest and Community Fair on Saturday, Oct. 5 from noon to 5 p.m.
Enjoy German food and beer while listening to the unique sounds of Jacked Up and other local bands. Browse the community fair for local crafts and information on health and local nonprofits.
German food and drink is available from Village Meats and BarBarBar Pizza.
“We like to support community causes and have a good time with locals,” said Eric Halstead, owner of Village Meats, “C’mon down and enjoy one of my homemade brats.”
Eric and Danielle serve up all the fixins with that brat, and you can enjoy a beer from Rhonda at BarBarBar or sample one of Ron’s German wines from Village Market. Rhonda also is holding her annual coat and warm clothing drive.
The Community Fair is a collaboration of crafters, nonprofits and businesses organized to support Tahoe Family Solutions. TFS is the premier nonprofit dedicated to helping families and children through programs in education, counseling and camping.
Maverick Baseball is hosting a pitching mound and raffling off an iPad in an effort to raise money for youth traveling to New York City. American Red Cross and Tahoe SAFE Alliance will have a table and activities for Kids. Pet Network is planning to have a Doggie Parade.
The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and Incline Village Community Hospital will also be offering flu shots all day for $20, and accept Medicare.
This year’s arts and crafters will be exhibiting and offering for sale a wide variety of items from many returning participants, to include: Norma Buller-oil painting and acrylics, Cindy Keenly’s NorthShore Knits, Peggy Harrison-knitted items, Bill Cox Wooden candles and others.
You also can win a $600 42-inch flat screen TV, donated by Village Center owner Art Hoff, at the Incline Community Business Association raffle, and Incline at Tahoe Realty is donating a three-night vacation rental.
Proceeds from ticket sales go to Tahoe Family Solutions. Other prizes will come from businesses, Village Center merchants and community fair participants. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event, and the drawing will be held throughout the day.
Dress the Part(y), event sponsor, will have a Halloween tent sale and encourages everyone to shop for Halloween and enjoy a 25 percent discount on their $100 purchase.
Sierra Verde will host a special art bizarre. Also, several Village Center merchants will be offering event specials encouraging everyone to stroll down their storefront boardwalks on that day. Be sure to stop in Awareness Village, MStudio, Bourgeois Interior Design, Sierra Verde and the TFS Thrift Store for their specials, too.
