Affordable housing will soon be under construction in Martis Valley

The 2006 resolution over conflicts over development in the Martis Valley didn’t just guarantee open space preservation ” it also set requirements for affordable housing.

Hopkins Village ” a planned 10-acre, 50-unit affordable housing development off Schaffer Mill Road ” is one result of the agreement between conservation groups and developers in the Martis Valley.

The project is expected to be under full-scale construction this spring, and may open by next winter, officials said.



“Hopkins has a pretty long history, but it was originally approved for 65 units, a golf course, and a club house,” said Keith Franke of DMB/Highlands Group. “What happened is we ended up being in litigation over Siller Ranch (now Martis Camp), and this became one of the offerings of the settlement.”
