Agencies stage mock accident at high school

Truckee residents on Donner Pass Road may see emergency vehicles, rescue personnel and law officers in front of Tahoe-Truckee High School around noon today, but should not be alarmed.

It’s a simulation.

California Highway Patrol, Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada County Sheriff’s Office and the Truckee Fire District will be presenting the “Death Every 15 Minutes” program to students, which includes a mock traffic acident.

CHP Capt. Robert Clements said the simulation will include emergency vehicles with lights and sirens responding to the school, as well as a CHP helicopter.

For information, call officer Wes Maehler or John Sattler at the Truckee CHP office, at (530)587-3518.
