Airport plan to be aired on Thursday
The controversial plan that will govern development around the airport is scheduled to be adopted at a Thursday afternoon meeting in Truckee. The Truckee Tahoe Airport Land Use Compatibility was up for approval at an Oct. 13 meeting, but a failure to properly notify the public, as required by state law, delayed final action. The Foothill Airport Land Use Commission, the governmental body that oversees the plan, will decide whether to certify the environmental document and adopt the plan on Thursday. The current draft has been reworked to have fewer conflicts with land use in the airport region. Originally, several important sites, including a potential location for a new community center and the railyard property east of downtown, were severely restricted by the draft plan. Still, industrial land off of East River Street and a portion of the Tahoe-Truckee Sanitation Agency property are affected by the draft plan, and likely will be discussed on Thursday.
