Airport repeals master plan

The Truckee-Tahoe Airport District Board Monday adopted a resolution which has the effect of rescinding the Airport Master Plan Update and its associated Mitigated Negative Declaration.

The Town of Truckee filed suit against the airport district shortly after it adopted those two documents.

“A lot of information has been gathered over the past month,” Truckee-Tahoe Airport District General Manager Peter Soderquist said. “The [previously] existing master plan is probably more functional.”

Soderquist said the board elected to rescind the master plan update because many of its elements could probably never be implemented, in part because of how it related to the Town of Truckee General Plan.

The master plan now in effect as a result of Monday’s action precedes the town’s incorporation and general plan.

“It appears the town will be able to just dismiss the lawsuit we had filed,” Town Manager Steve Wright said. “The next step is to work cooperatively with the district on the Conditional Land Use Permit.”
