Amgen celebration Truckee style

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; In celebration of the much-anticipated Amgen Tour of California, Truckee is hosting two fun events that will appeal to cycling enthusiasts of all ages. Hint: both events involve music, beer and food!

On Friday, May 13, the town will hold a free street dance in the depot parking lot, 6-10 p.m. Live music will be provided by Ben Jamminand#8217;s All Stars. Truckee favorite Full Belly Deli will be on hand serving their famous pig pops and other tasty items.

Bike racers of all ilk will get a chance to test their skills at the Bike Festival Saturday, May 14, 1-5 p.m. There will be bike races for all ages, including the slow race and the longest skid competition. Riverside Studios will offer a bike-themed art show and the Artisanand#8217;s Market Place will host a bike decorating contest. Continuing the bike buzz, there will be an interactive metal sculpture by Pat Blide. And like the previous dayand#8217;s festivities, there will be music, food and beer.

Both events are organized by the Truckee Downtown Merchants Association with support from the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Truckee. For more information or call 530-584-1222.
