3 Incline seniors receive $1,500 scholarships
July 22, 2015
The Women's Club of North Tahoe recently awarded scholarships to three deserving Incline High School seniors who graduated this summer.
"We are excited to be able to make these funds available to these deserving students," remarks Cookie Steinberg, president of the organization. "The process was detailed and it's always a difficult choice. Still, we are proud of all those who applied, especially our scholarship recipients."
A total of $4,500, in $1,500 increments, was awarded to Krista Conn, Taylor Binney and Chloe Whatmore (who will attend Boston University in fall).
Scholarship applications, including essays from students and parents provided by Incline High School, were scrutinized in May and June by the Women's Club committee, chaired by JoAn Hagy.
Qualified candidates must maintain a 3.2 grade point average and achieve acceptable scores on their SAT and ACT tests. Need is also a consideration.
The Women's Club has been awarding college scholarship to high school senior women for more than 10 years.
